He was a Belgian writer of the 2th century, writing numerous novels, the most known are those with Commissaire Maigret, but there are much others. They gave a very special taste to me: Modest figures struggling for life and getting deeper and deeper into catastrophes. I loved the topics and the places: Far East, South American jungles, colonialism, the power of nature menacing all human efforts.....
Born in Liège in 1903 he traveled much, lived in Paris, in the USA, in Switzerland, where he built a large house in Epalinges near Lausanne. He died there 1989.
He was said to have fucked 10000 women. Had an affair with Josefine Baker.
